You setup integration with Open Dental during plug-in installation. YAPI PMS plug-in is a set of software components that add ability to access a specific database used by PMS. You install PMS plugin using YAPI Service Manager. Stop YAPI Service and click Install Plugin button
Unless you have PMS Plugin already downloaded, click Yes button to proceed,
then select Open Dental plug-in you would like to install. Typically, you select the latest plug-in that has a + sign after the version number. Click Download button to proceed
Once downloaded and installed, plug-in launches setup screen.
These are the settings that allow plug-in to locate the Open Dental database.Most likely you won’t need to change anything. Select Add employees to Provider List check box.
The following six screens allow you to setup mapping between Open Dental appointment status (called Appointment Confirmed category in Open Dental) and YAPI Dashboard events. YAPI monitors appointment status in Open Dental and makes changes to Dashboard to reflect changes in appointment status. For example, when you change appointment status in Open Dental to indicate patient arrival, YAPI automatically brings patient into Check-in area of YAPI Dashboard.
To synchronize YAPI Dashboard with patient status in Open Dental the following must be set in YAPI Global Configuration
Watch arrival status option in Global Configuration – Options – Check-in . This option instructs YAPI to bring patient into Check-in area when Open Dental appointment status is changed to Patient Arrived status. Typically you select this option.
Watch appointment status option in Global Configuration – Options – Operatory. This option instructs YAPI to synchronize patient’s movements with Open Dental appointment status. For example, when you change appointment status in Open Dental to indicate that the patient is in a treatment room, YAPI automatically moves patient from check-in area to appropriate area in Dashboard. For this feature to work flawlessly names of operatories in YAPI must be exactly the same as in Open Dental (please watch for extra blanks or special characters). YAPI will fail moving the patient if there is no associated chair/operatory in Dashboard (no name match), or operatory is occupied or is out-of-service. Depending on how close the schedule reflects actual use of treatment rooms during the day you chose whether use this option or not.
This screen allows you to select what Open Dental appointment status indicates patient arrival.
This screen allows you to select what Open Dental appointment status indicates patient is in treatment area.
This screen allows you to select what Open Dental appointment status indicates that the treatment has finished and the patient is in check-out area.
This screen allows you to select what Open Dental appointment status indicates that the patient has left the office. Please note that YAPI won’t process this event if a patient has unfilled documents in his/her Virtual Document Folder.
The following screen allows you to select what appointment statuses are used in Open Dental to indicate that appointment is confirmed. Note that you can select more that one statuses.
Next screen allows you to select Open Dental appointment status to be used by YAPI to set appointment confirmed. Note that while you will see all statuses selected on the previous screen, you will need to select only one.
YAPI inserts an audit trail record every time an appointment is confirmed via email or mobile text. The following screen allows you to select a CommLog type to be used in audit trail record.
YAPI plug-in installs Open Dental specific iPad forms. The following screen informs you that forms are being installed and allows you to select forms to install. Normally, you don’t change selections.
